How HomeGoSmart handles contact sharing, vendor verification, and your data — in plain English.
Contact sharing policy
- •Your phone number is never released to vendors unless you explicitly approve it.
- •Email may be shared earlier (e.g. to send your checklist), but never with vendors unless you opt in.
- •Every contact-release event is logged with a timestamp, the consent record it was based on, and which channels were released — auditable for you and for us.
How consent works
- •When you post a project, you choose one of four options: keep contact private, share email only, share phone only with vendors you select, or let HomeGoSmart coordinate first.
- •If you change your mind later, contact us at privacy@homegosmart.com and we'll update or revoke your permission. Existing release events stay in the audit log.
- •We capture the IP address and browser at the time you give consent, alongside the exact text you agreed to.
Vendor verification
- •We check vendor license and insurance status via state lookups before approving them for the pilot.
- •Verification is a starting point, not a guarantee. Always verify the contractor independently before signing — confirm the license number with the issuing state, check the COI directly with the insurance carrier, and ask for references.
- •We disclose unverified items on the vendor's record so you and our team know what's still outstanding.
Sponsored listings
- •We currently have no paid placement, no sponsored listings, and no pay-to-play boost in vendor matching. If we ever add any, it will be clearly labeled and disclosed here first.
Homeowner safety checklist
- •Get the scope, materials, and price in writing before any work starts.
- •Verify the contractor's license number with the state issuing authority.
- •Confirm insurance directly with the insurance carrier — not from a copy the contractor provides.
- •Avoid paying more than 10–30% deposit upfront; never pay cash without a receipt.
- •Ask who pulls the permit, who's responsible for inspections, and what happens if they find rotten decking or hidden damage.
- •Request 2–3 written quotes for any non-trivial project so you can compare scope, not just price.
- •Use HomeGoSmart's Quote Check to surface missing items before you sign.
Your data
- •We collect: your name, email, optionally phone, ZIP, project details, photos, and the consent records described above.
- •We retain project records to maintain the audit trail. You can request deletion of your account and identifying data at privacy@homegosmart.com.
- •We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your project data to train AI models.
- •When we send notifications via email or SMS (Phase 2), we only do so on the channels you explicitly approved.
